History History
Keith Mosse is an award-winning woodturner and a cabinet-maker with an impressive reputation for quality work. With almost two decades of experience behind him in both Ireland and Australia he has based himself in his home village of Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny. Here he has established a workshop for the manufacture of high quality custom-made furniture and the production of turned craftwork in a variety of woods.

Keith spent twelve years in Australia where he discovered the beauty and uniqueness of Australian woods. While there he worked extensively as a cabinetmaker but he also became widely known for his woodturning which he sold through such outlets as the Bungendore Wood Works Gallery, Bungendore, New South Wales and the Leura Fine Wood Gallery in the Blue Mountains outside Sydney. He also won prizes in competitions and participated in exhibitions.

In 2000, Keith returned to Ireland and brought with him a large supply of wonderful Australian woods to use in his work. In his workshop, Keith specialises in making handcrafted furniture in both Irish and imported timbers using traditional, time-honoured methods and techniques. All the furniture is made to order and is designed with the clients to facilitate their particular requirements. Work undertaken to date includes dining room suites, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom furniture and many special one-off pieces. Keith has become particularly well known for his dining chairs into which he has put an enormous amount of thought and effort to produce chairs that are both elegant and comfortable. As someone with a bad back, he is acutely aware of the discomfort that can be caused when chairs are uncomfortable.

The style is generally modern with a hint of influence from the Shakers whose furniture and philosophy of work he has long studied and admired. Keith is confident that his furniture will stand the test of time and go on to be enjoyed by future generations.

Keith’s woodturning allows him to demonstrate the diverse range of his skills and talents and the extraordinary range of colours and textures to be found in wood. The range of products stretches from the useful to the purely beautiful and includes items such as clocks, bowls, bookends, candleholders. (View the photographs for a comprehensive scan of the range).

A showroom and craft shop has been opened adjacent to the workshop where examples of the furniture can be viewed. A wide range of woodturning is also for sale, incorporating woods from the five continents, with particular prominence given to Irish and Australian woods.

Check out the photographs on the website to get an idea of the extent of Keith’s work. If you wish to make any further enquiries we would be delighted to welcome you to the showroom or visit your premises. While our client base is mostly in the south-east region and Dublin, we welcome enquiries from all parts of the country and will provide delivery services.
